AFC Asian International Player of the Year: Shinji Kagawa


Kuala Lumpur: The superb run of form of Japanese international Shinji Kagawa for his previous club Borussia Dortmund and his high profile transfer to English giant Manchester United has made him the first-ever AFC International Player of Year.
The skillful midfielder had a successful season in Dortmund’s double winning campaign which prompted Manchester United to reach an agreement with the German champions in June which sealed his 17 million pound dream move to England.
The former Cerezo Osaka midfielder had also inspiring campaign for Japan national team as they are knocking the door of an automatic qualification to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil after leading Group B with 13 points from five matches in the final round of the FIFA 2014 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
Japan Football Association President Kuniya Daini received the
historic award on behalf of Kagawa.
